The EWE Gasspeicher Flow Battery Energy Storage System is a 120,000kW energy storage project located in Berlin, Germany. The rated storage capacity of the project is 700,000kWh. The market for battery energy storage is estimated to grow to $10.84bn in 2026.

Applications and markets: Flow batteries are a very versatile storage technology with a long lifetime and high cycle numbers. For short-duration cycles below 15 minutes they cannot match the eficiency and cost structure of lithium-ion batteries. However, unlike lithium-ion batteries, flow batteries are capable of deep-cycles.
