CASE DESCRIPTION This case consists of a utility-scale, lithium-ion, battery energy storage system (BESS) with a 150 MW power rating and 600 MWh energy rating; the system can provide 150 MW of power for a four-hour duration.
The AC-coupled system assumes a DC/AC ratio of 1.4, resulting in a DC size of 210 MW. AC-coupled systems are typically built at a higher DC/AC ratio than standalone PV to maximize the amount of available energy to charge the battery energy storage system (BESS) without sacrificing PV output while the BESS is charging or idle.
An EPC Contract delivers these requirements in a single integrated package, which is one of the major reasons why EPC Contracts are the most common form of construction contract used in project-financed utility-scale solar projects. The key clauses in any construction contract are those that impact on time, cost and quality.
